North Hollywood, CA, parking

I'm new to the forum. I have a sick brother in N. Hollywood, CA, that I need to get close to to assist him for a couple of months. The RV and mobile parks are crazy high cost. I have a 32' Jayco Eagle motorhome and need to stay somewhere that won't break the bank. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  • Here are your various choices. Two parks in the valley, out in Santa Clarita/ Valencia/ Acton, over in Simi or at the beach See them all

If you are a senior the Rocky Trailer Village in Simi is an option too. You could ride the metro in from Simi instead of driving.
  • Stay completely away from anything in or south of LA. The 5, 101, and especially the 405 are locked often 18 hours a day. By far the best direction in and out of N. Hollywood is toward Santa Clarita.
  • Tapo Canyon park in Simi Valley is a Ventura County park, you can only stay there for 14 days. There's also an Elks Lodge in Simi Valley with hookups. I agree on the park Balboa/Birmingham in Van Nuys, nothing special at all. There's a park in Northridge, Walnut RV park. Also, there is a park in Long Beach, Golden something, one in Playa Del Rey, Dockweiler Beach RV (not the state park). Check www.rvparkreviews.com. You are going to an area that's not rv friendly and is pricey for anything. Reasonable cost and CA are not possible.
  • The thing about LA is to begin with thinking about the schedule you'll be keeping and the times of day you'll be going which way... then look in the direction opposite of rush hour traffic flows. A park that's geographically closer but driving in rush hour to get to and from will take much longer to commute than the park in the opposite direction of the flow (but much further away). So, the point is... think about traffic flows first.
  • There is a Thousand Trails RV Park in the small town of Acton, CA. Depending on where in N. Hollywood you are going, it would be about 35-40 miles. A good road with little traffic to the 14 Freeway. Then 14 and the I-5 into town.
4700 Crown Valley Rd, Acton, CA
    (661) 269-1740
Give them a call and give your circumstances.

There is also a KOA on Crown Valley Road. A few miles closer to N. Hollywood.
  • I didn't care for Balboa RV Park when I drove my car there to check it out about a year ago. Fairly expensive too.

There's Tapo Canyon Park in Simi Valley...about the same distance as Valencia Travel Village would be.

If you happen to be an Elks member, there is a lodge with RV spots in Canoga Park.
  • The closest nice campground is Travel Village in Valencia
There is another across the valley: Balboa RV Park, but last time I was by there it was kinda going downhill. It's next to Van Nuys airport and can be quite noisy at times.
Look around up in Santa Clarita. There are a few toward Agua Dulce including a Thousand Trails
