North Rim Grand Canyon>after 15 Oct Closing Date

I 2nd Busskipper, great time to be there. We usually boondock in the NF and enjoy the quite and you might hit the Aspen change about then but could be a little late. We'd be there as Oct is the best time of the yr. but have other plans this yr. Enjoy.

Thank You Busskipper...I am self-contained and I will enjoy the time I spend there. After 4 years in Fairbanks, AK., I prepare for all that I can think of. I sure appreciate your answer and I am so looking forward to this trip. Many Thanks for your input.

IMHO you are going at a Great time - The most important thing to remember is to be stocked up as it is CLOSED and NOTHING is open. We usually stay a good bit further away and drive the toad in around Thanksgiving - One year we ran across a group that had just Boondocked along the side of the Road, didn't talk with them but pretty sure they had fun. I love the fact that the sun is so low it just looks beautiful and the shadows are something else.

For the most part the issue is Snow and the fact that they will not plow it once it starts, so just keep an eye on the weather -from my experience the snow will usually not hang around more than just a short time until December then it stays till Spring.

Lodging, The General store, and lodge close 15 Oct. The North Rim NP campground is available via reservations until 31 Oct. Sometime near 1 Dec the entire north rim closes to all.

Curious - reservations Oct. 26-28 where since the Rim area is closed??

Could get interesting I had snow on the south rim 4/17/15
