I agree that for us, it would be a good year to visit. The visitor number will be way down so we could actually get a parking spot. We would arrive by 11:00 am and be standing in line to get a camp site for about 3 or 4 days. A camper occupying a site has until 11:30 to renew their site. If they don't do it by 11:30, I can take the site for up to the maximum allowable stay. The departing occupant has until noon to leave.
We have gotten campsites with this method in Glacier, Yellowstone, and the Grand Canyon, plus many National Forest areas.
