I love to go off the beaten path (as a photographer and just an adventurous soul). I am a female but don't see too many women on this forum or any others actually. Men are always talking about the DW ...

You're long description of your (2nd?) DW sounds about like the description of my 1st (coming up on 44 years) DW. Except we don't get near alcohol.
What it sounds like you have is ... plain and simple ... a tomboy. That's what I kindo have. I think they make the best spouses if, and only if, the guy is a decent enough person to deserve one.
My tomboy loves to bass fish with lures or trout fish with flies. She loves to RV out in the middle of nowhere and she also often sleeps in the RV when it's right out in the backyard. She loves to decorate the stick house - right along with decorating the RV. She got better grades in college than I did, to-boot.
She has never had an "outside" job - didn't want to and didn't need to. But in the meantime she proudly did a spectacular job of holding down the home fort while I slaved away until retirement. :C
