Women and truck campers

Isn't part of traveling going where you never been and returning with a bunch of new friends and experiences?

The trick is how do get the customs officer to experience this too without making it sound like come on and a request for a partner.

I started fulltiming alone in a 5er in 2007 after being widowed in 2003 while fulltiming. I then bought a TC for summer travel. In 2012 I sold the 5er and fulltime with the TC. Some of you would be very surprised how many solo women are out here with all types of RVs!

I crossed into Canada this summer and the Canadian Customs guy had lots of questions - if I didn't know anyone in Alaska, why was I coming up here? Duh.

Jlmule I like your spirit. Keep doing what you are doing. So many people stay home and miss all the adventure in life because someone else does not approve. Go for it lady.

Good for you. Welcome to the TC world. I think you will enjoy the benefits of being able to get off the beaten path where the Glampers, as you call, them hang out. Great move for you so you can tow your horses or off road vehicles. We decided on a TC to access the backcountry. Come out west, it is all around you. Get solar, AGM batteries, and compressor fridge and you are set. Lots of great advice in this forum.

And, I really want to pull my UTV or 2 horse bumper trailer so I can really see some back country. I have no fears about going alone or with other women. I certainly am not so stupid as to believe I am invincible but, if I can castrate a pig with a pocket knife, think what I could do with the machete I keep inside the camper :) !! I still need to do a lot of research before switching to a TC but have no qualms about being able to load it on the truck or handle the loaded vehicle. Set me straight if you think I am nuts.

I like your attitude... you remind me of my mother... and she raised me to be independent and have a can do attitude. What a wonderful woman.

I totally understand. TC are so easy to use and simply perfect for one person.

Not quite solo but when my DD spent a semester in New Zealand and the school closed for break , she and a girlfriend rented an RV for a week and toured South Island , had a ball .
