Yes, i should have mentioned that I have a DH and that WE boon dock. I am glad there are women who camp off grid. We enjoy it as we don't have to drive a ways to shoot sunrise/sunset photos or rock hound. We can just step out the door or walk a short ways to pursue our hobbies.
I am the photography nut and actually make a bit of money as second shooter at weddings and get in free at music festivals (concert photography does not pay). DH has my hand me down camera and does some photography. He is the avid rock hound but it has become my passion, also. On our last trip, I found a large carnelian agate that is gorgeous. And, together, we will stop at historic markers and museums.
I am of the older generation but did some solo hitch hiking in this country and in Europe. It was my idea to get a 4x4 truck/pop up truck camper to enable us to go off road and boon dock. I have to persuade my husband at times to drive down the USFS/BLM road to see where it goes and what is along the way. In fact, he was the one who wanted the full bath in the TC, not me.
It is heartening to see that many women today are exploring the world. My family camped when I was a kid and in high school, at church camp, we went on 10 day/50 mile camping trips boy/girl in the Cascades. Maybe if you grow up with camping and it is a part of your life, especially the roughing it part, it seems to be an easy transition camping as an adult. While some folks have a large solar array/generators/batteries, etc. to bring along the comforts of home, we don't spend much time in the camper except to sleep and prepare meals. No TV, DVD player, etc. We would rather keep it simple. Whatever keeps you happy.
