NY Finger Lakes CG's

I thoroughly enjoyed Letchworth State Park, but it might not be quite what you're interested in. Electric only (with water fill stations scattered around and a nice dump station), and I think no WiFi. There is a pool in the park, but it's a decent drive down the road from the campground (a couple miles). The scenery and hiking are superb.

The Watkins Glen KOA is pretty good but crowded when there are races at Watkins Glen. Camp Bell is a nice little campground and not far from Corning.

If you are willing to give up full hook ups, Sampson State Park is really nice and has an interesting history as a military base. As mentioned above, Letchworth SP is a great park but not as close to some of the finger lake areas. And the Watkins Glen State Park is nice. We used to live in western New York and enjoyed many trips to the finger lakes area. If you want to treat yourself to something special, take a hot air balloon ride that takes off from Letchworth SP......absolutely awesome! And be sure to hike the gorge at Watkins Glen and tour the Corning Glass Works. Enjoy!

If you like a resort type CG with pool, wifi, kids activities, full hook up, etc, Hickory Hill in Bath NY is a decent place. It is a short drive from Hammondsport.

The KOA is expensive but the sites in the back are very nice. We liked Clute, but the transient area is a little tight. Take a day and drive around the lake stopping at wineries. If you want to do tasting, there are several limo companies in the area that offer winery tours.

If in this area go to the Glenn Curtis Museum. Can't beat the gorge at Watkins Glen and Corning Glass is fun too. It was fun to purchase a Sailplane ride in Elmira.

If you go to Letchworth (and I suggest you do), be sure to take the fairly long drive (but short walks) to the three waterfalls at the other end of the park from the campgrounds. Some photos from a couple of trips here.

Watkins Glen KOA is the place to stay in my opinion if doing the falls and Seneca lake in general.

In Hammndsport,we really enjoyed the Glenn Curtis Museum.Curtis built and raced motorcycles and airplanes.

I have never stayed here. . I only put this out there because it is a good location for you. There is a ton to do in the Finger lakes, unfortunately or not most of it requires driving. The FL generally is considered everything between Syracuse and Rochester,nNorth to Ontario Lake and South to the PA border.

Just a note to those of you looking for a campground in the finger lakes area.
There is a campground called Paradise Park, it's in Reading Center, NY. We, my wife and I have a seasonal there, it's one of those hidden
places that you'll want to come back to. Full hookup's, no sewer, but they have a dump truck that will come to your site and pump you.
Pool, playground for the kids, golf carts allowed. 5 MPH. Large campers welcome.
