Finger Lakes campgrounds NY

Oh yes, something else we forgot to mention. For the DW, there is a great Outlet Mall in Waterloo. Just avoid it on Canadian holidays as it is mobbed on those days. Although it is kind of neat hearing announcements in English and in French.

The one near Ithaca is Robert Treman/old Enfield Glen State Park...great waterhole with falls. also Great 1 day hiking experience along wooded streams and small falls.

Further north on RT 89 from Ithaca is Taughannock Falls State Park on Cayuga Lake.

Further north on Rt 89 is the Cayuga Lake State Park.

West and slightly south is Sampson State Park on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake...it's the old Air Force/Navy base...large with many sites.

The further south at the south end of Seneca Lake is Watkins Glen.

I second Sampson State Park, it is an old Air Force basic training base and prior to that it was a Naval Base. There is a small museum there. Visit the many wineries in the area.

Hickory Hill CG in Bath, NY is nice or was the last time I was there.

The Watkins Glen KOA is excellent. If you can get on the lower loop they have paved sites that are pretty nice. Red Ponds is nice but can get pretty buggy with all the ponds around the campground. The access to the Erie Canal is great with a bike path that can take you more miles than you would probably care to go in both directions. Letchworth park is worth the trip but the campgound has very limited hookups.

Enjoy your trip to the Finger Lakes. It's a special place with lots to see and do and some pretty decent wines can also be found there.

Watkins Glen: from what I remember, there are TWO state parks...one by Lake Seneca and the other on top of a huge hill from the middle of town.

Of course, there is the KOA on 414S....and another commerercial cg further south on 414.

The Finger Lakes has many campgrounds and parks...look them up on RVReviews.com or get the Trailer Life Directory....9 bucks at Camping World.

If you are interested in Watkins Glen, Clute Park ( city park) is in downtown Watkins Glen, and can accommodate any size rig. It's pretty much an open field, full hook ups, on the lake .

Just north of the Finger Lakes is Red Rock Ponds RV Resort in Holley, NY. This is right on the Erie Canal and is less than an hour from Letchworth and Niagara Falls. All full hookup 50 A sites with several pull through sites.
