NYS-Whetstone Gulf State Park

Looking for site numbers from those that have camped there. I like a private site, not near playground if there is one. Any other recommendations for quiet spots in other state parks also welcomed! Thanks and happy camping!

  • Stayed there quite a few years ago - I remember that the swings were down by the swimming area(river is dammed up to make a swimming area)and not in the camping area.

From what I remember - - Sites 3-18 were the easiest to get into. Sites 44,45,47 have trees and field behind them. Many of the other sites are in the trees (23-26) or back up to the trees (45-55).

Looking at the picture of your rig it will be easy to get into to most sites.

The gorge trail is quite the hike - allot of up hill but worth the walk.
  • I have never stayed there; but want to in the future. Playgrounds are usually marked on the "basic" map for the campground. Perhaps one day, New York will get with it and have pictures of the actual site, as other states do, when you are looking at a campground. Steve, don't you feel that our parks are lacking especially when you go to other states? By the way, there is a new RV park opening next year in Macedon - just east of Victor/Egypt off 31 on the canal. TWilight Valley is the name.
