Never camped in Virginia Beach, but drove through a couple of campgrounds there to check out the possibilities. Wasn't overly impressed with any of the campgrounds, but I'm not sure that I got a representative view.
On the OTHER hand, we LOVE camping at Assateague Island! Ocean City is worth going to a couple of evenings, but there is lots of other stuff to do around there, as well!
