IMO, if the campground had already accepted his reservation which is accompanied by a payment, and there are no stated rules forbidding a 20 year old RV, then I would expect my reservation to be honored. I would expect to have a site available to me.

The hosts do not get to make the rules but they are responsible for maintaining order and enforcing the rules at the CG. We are only hearing one side, don't know what was actually said. The OP's rig is probably lovely, perhaps and outright classic... on the other hand i've seen some 20 year old trailers unfit for the county landfill.
Asking the host for a break is a far cry from telling them you are going to do what you want whether they like it or not. Clearly that CG has a problem and hopefully the OP will get back to us with its name, location and the ultimate resolution.
I've spoken with a number of hosts who would have simply called in the rangers/cops as most have instructions not to deal with confrontative guests regardless of the reason as that is simply not their job. :C
