Oregon Coastal Parks

We will be touring the Oregon coast for 2 or 3 weeks in late April and early May. There are so many parks that we can not visit all of them. Any suggestions on which ones are best for scenery, camping and hiking would be appreciated. We will be in a truck camper so site size is not an issue.

Many of the coast state parks are older, and very tight for large RVs. Nut there are several really nice private parks that would be good for a large RV.

Unless his truck camper is in excess of 40', I doubt if he will have a problem fitting in any of the OR parks.

We've stayed at Harris, Beverly Beach, and Fort Stevens. All three were superb.

  • We liked Nehalem Bay -- don't miss Kelly's Crabs in Brighton, not far away. Delicious!
  • i don't believe there is a bad state park on the oregon coast.
just pick a area you like and enjoy.

  • Don't know which direction you are traveling....but if possible, start North and go south. Ft. Stevens is a can't miss.

Any and all of the Oregon State Parks along the coast are first rate and all are in prime locations....all have lots to do in the parks and in the surrounding areas.
Have a good trip and bring your Gortex.
  • Our favorites are Harris Beach, Sunset Bay, Jesse Honeyman, South Beach and Fort Steven's, all of which are great examples of Oregon state parks. While these are our favorites, you can't go wrong with any of the Oregon State parks.
