palm springs CA area

We used to stay and Emerald Desert in its heyday (sp?) but it is major downsized and very small sites (drove thru it again a year ago). It was sold to build housing some years ago and then the market nosedived so they decided to keep part of it open. It is the real old section and some of the close by it. Used to have a 9 hole golf course.

Now we stay at Indian Waters for far less money and it is a great place....spent a month there this Dec - Jan and will be back for 6 weeks next Dec - Feb.

We stayed in Palm Desert last May at Emerald Desert RV Resort. I haven't had a lot of experience with full-service resorts, but this one was very, very nice compared to the others we used on our 20-day trip from Wyoming, to Idaho, to Nevada, Yosemite, Sequoia, Palm Desert, Zion and Salt Lake City. Very large spaces, all with concrete, full hook-ups, swimming pool, exercise place, etc. Only dislike were the trains that were pretty close to the park, about 100 yards from where we parked. There was a wall between the tracks, but it didn't block all the noise. Price was about $55 a night, but compared to the Yosemite Lakes campground, it was a bargain. It's rated 10/9.5/10 in the Good Sam RV Travel Guide, for what that's worth.

I don't think I was "badly mistaken" but I did kinda goof on the Borrego Springs as your recommended site listed it by a campground name (that many of us never really knew - only knew the place by state park; that is the way it is generally referred to)that is in the State Park. RVPR shows it by the state park name.

I do not know what you mean but sure can't find it much easier than this - go to the state, zoom into the area you want and click.

Also, each time I go to your recommended website my Webroot and other preventative measures warn me it is a dangerous website - that is scary. Hence I will avoid it.

Lauren - You are badly mistaken. That website I linked has everything in that area and a lot better coverage than RVPR. I am guessing you were looking at each city by name which would indeed only display listings within that city. Unlike RVPR that website properly indexes the parks by their city.

A little out of the area, but in Yucaipa, there is the San Bernardino Regional camp ground. It has full hook ups with grassy areas. Excellent location. In Beaumont, there is another rv campground, south of the I-10 and near the 60 fwy, but I can't think of the name right now.

Second was Borrego Springs which is about 80 miles or more from Palm Springs....we drove there last Sunday. We wanted to drive down as were in BS last January for 6 nights and are going to add that to the end of our time here next January again. We love Borrego Springs.

Lots of variability in that area plus some nice county parks. Pick your best bet Here

TT Palm Springs is pretty full this year, we will be there last 2 weeks in Jan. We have also stayed at Caliente Hot Springs and really enjoyed it. BTW CHS takes passport to help keep costs down.
