I use to drive a F-350, SRW, 4 dr, 8 ft bed 4X4. We go to NOLA 2-3 times a year. We park in one of the lots along Peters next to the Westin Hotel. None of the lots along there allow DRW tho.
There is some metered street parking next to these lots on Front (or maybe it's Clay) and Conti. There aren't very many but sometimes you see some open ones.
It's going to be tough find a place to park a DRW in the FQ. You won't want to drive the narrow streets either as making turns can be pretty tight for a regular PU.
I think I'd take enblethen's suggestion and park at Algier's Point on the West Bank and take the ferry to the FQ. We have parked there a few times. It drops off at the end of Canal St so it's a short walk to the FQ. It use to be free for walk-ons but they now charge $2 a person or $1 for over 65. http://nolaferries.com/
Note the times so you don't miss your ferry back to Algiers. A cab ride is more than $2.
I have gotten lucky and found on street parking on Peters in the area of the French Market. Not something you want to count on tho. They're usually taken but you might get lucky. It's metered and you could get a DRW in there and feed the meter.
The FQ isn't dually friendly. Good luck.
