I wouldn't really consider Laughlin as a fun destination for kids. There's not a whole lot to do there if you're not visiting the casinos or boating in the river.
I think you could find better places to spend those days before seeing the Grand Canyon. One destination that is always a hit with kids is Bearizona. It's a great animal park near Williams.
