Pocono Raceway camping advice

I have a Trackside RV site for the Pocono 400 this weekend. Any one have any experience with those camping spots? I will be in a motorhome. If I pull straight in toward the fence can I sit in the driver and passenger seats and watch the race?
I can not get onto the roof of my coach.
Is there room to put out your slides and the awning or just the slides? I know the space is tight.
I have a genturi for the generator exhaust.
This will be my first NASCAR track camping experience.

My first NASCAR track camping experience was GREAT!
The spots were very tight but very long. Long enough for a 40ft with toad.
There was just enough room for my slideout on one side and I could open my awning about halfway on the other.
    But
I was able to pull in facing and right up to the fence. I could stand or sit at the fence and watch
    or
I mostly sat in my comfortable passenger seat in A/C comfort and watched. I could see the cars go into turn 2 , down the straightaway to turn 3 and out of turn 3.
There were lots of generators but I had mine running too so no big deal.
    I had nice neighbors too.

Absolute fact, or at least it was for many years. I spent much of my career in the area, as a contractor. The stories from employees and coworkers were legendary.
Years ago, a fellow apprentice in my class disappeared at the race, and reappeared a few days later. He got blind drunk and fell in a campfire at the race. The first responders took him north to Wilkes-Barre for some repairs. Wearing nothing but a hospital gown, and still totally sheet faced, he decided to check himself out of the ER a few hours later. As he is walking past the VA hospital, after dark, he runs into security. Since he is babbling, with no shoes and wearing a gown, they assume he is an escapee from their mental health lock up, and they return him to where they thought he belonged. Two days later, he convinces the staff that he is just a drunken idiot who really shouldn't be there. A local excavator got so sick of the stupidity that he banned his crew from attending. it was nothing to have one or two key people out of commission after a race. Everything from being too drunk to work on Monday, to falling off a bus roof and breaking an arm.

That's a classic story , made my day and reminded me of how young and dumb i use to be !! Now i'm just dumb ! lol

  • We literally live within "Hearing" distance of the track. We generally try to jump in the RV and head out of town on race weekends, since the area can be a bit stressed with an additional 1-200K folks in town. That said, I hope you have great time. At the moment the area is stunningly green and the weather is perfect. Be safe, and have fun.

We were trackside two years ago. You really just see a blur sitting inside a coach; we went with our Holiday Rambler class A which sits fairly high.

We parked the coach about 10-12' from the fence and set up my ezee up in front between the coach & fence for shade. We ended up standing at the fence line to watch but you really cannot see all that well. We also use track scanners to listen to the broadcast otherwise you would be hard pressed to figure out what is going on after about 20 laps or so.

We've been to many races from Watkins Glenn all the way down to Texas Motor Speedway and Pocono has about the worst sight line but it's still a fun experience.

Spaces are really tight and it's best to quickly make friends with your neighbors. If you have an electric awning then you might be able to get it partway out. Makes sure you put the left side of the rv right along your 'boundary' line with any slides out; space is at a premium.
  • Sorry, can't help you with your question but it sounds like a great time, have fun!!!!
