We aren't big RV Park fans either, so if you're not worried about hookups, the Dungeness Recreation Area is definitely worthy of a look. It's a beautiful county park that sits on the edge of a bluff overlooking the straits. It's full of private woodsy campsites and it's in a great location at the west end of Sequim. The dog cannot go out onto the spit because it's a wildlife refuge, but check out the Olympic Discovery Trail System that runs through both Sequim and Port Angeles. Awesome trials that are totally dog friendly and should keep you busy while your wife is in class.
