Private Member Owned Campgrounds - Califonia

When you own a share, do you still pay for storage?? Since we have been traveling for years and now in our 70's we are thinking the better way for us is to just pay for the storage and then go down in the off season and pay the week or two fee. We are about 4.5 hours drive.

My sticks and bricks neighbor, who owns a share, claims to have paid $2500 in the late 70's.

I had another family friend offer me theirs for $20000 in 2008 --- of course I didn't want to part with the money as the economy was in full free fall. Unfortunately that deal is long gone, shares are currently ~$30k, so I'm a daily free paying guest of PCV. I kick myself for not taking the risk 5 years ago, hind sight is 20/20.

Ifloom, you are correct. I guess if you own 8 it really doesn't matter if you have prime days or not. If you happen to be around there the first part of Sept. and Oct. send me a PM. Always like to meet new friends. Incidentally, the guy that owns 8 shares paid around $500 per share back in the 70's.

BTW, Roman, some people are grandfathered into older regulations. For instance - when the park first opened you could buy 8 shares, and leave your rig parked all year round. Lucky people! For decades they have had a vacation home with no costs beyond the original - no property taxes, utilities, hoas, etc. There is at least one rig here that is here permanently.

Now,they only let you own 3 shares.Bummer!

It is an appreciable asset. I bought mine for 28K, and could sell it for more now. It is not a timeshare, but a deeded part of the park. When I go to sell, I will make a profit. So, the cost will be the difference between what I would have made if I kept the money in mutual funds over what I get from appreciation if I ever sell.

There are no fees- the park upkeep is paid for by the non members camping fees, and this is one of the best maintained parks around.

It is also one of the few that store, move on/off, and also have maintenance onsite (these are all fees, of course). I think this is a great model,and wish there were others in a convenient location.

$32,500 is way out of my price range. I don't think it would be worth it.

I would have to camp all 45 days a year for 60 years to make it worth paying the $32,500.

Is there yearly dues to pay?

According to the share holders manual prime/non prime applies to all shareholders. AS far as I know shares are now going for $32,500. Well worth it as far as I'm concerned.
