pull-forward sites?

Hope this is an OK forum for this topic-- it seemed like the most appropriate place.

We are in the planning phase of an RV park. There is a small lake, and the designer suggested having the sites immediately adjacent to the lake as "pull forward" so that people could just pull in and be facing the lake (wouldn't work for towables of course). That does seem nice, but in general it sounds like pull forward sites are very much disliked. I've talked to a few people about this but would like to hear from a wider audience-- does this seem like a decent/great/horrible idea to people? Would you like a site like that, or absolutely avoid it?

Thank you for any input!

  • Thank you for all of the replies!

It would only be a small percentage of the sites, so it sounds like it might be a good idea.

I like the idea of having utility hook ups on both sides so could be used either way. One issue is cost, which I can find out. The other issue-- would it be a negative to have hook-ups on both sides, including the side you weren't using? Wondering if they would get in the way etc.
  • Motorhomes like the pull forward for views through the windshield while I would prefer back in for my toy hauler. I would suggest a combination back in and pull forward. Or find a way to make each space suitable for a motorhome and a trailer.
  • Pull forward site works very well for those in MH's and large front windows.

Pull forward sites would work for towables backing in provided the site has dual set up for utilities.....but there is the rub.
Doubles your costs for dual utilities

Site occupancy is the key.......doesn't pay for itself if not used.

I'm having a hard time understanding why a pull forward site would be desirable. The tow vehicle would have an excellent view, but wouldn't it then be trapped?

for a moho to pull in look out the windshield
  • It depends on the site for me. It seems like every park I go to that has pull through sites they should really name them parallel parking sites because they are narrow and tight. I generally go for the back ins because they are further apart.

Now if a pull through is spacious, I'd take it over a back in any day.

  • Our favourite type of sites when there is a view. I think it would be an excellent idea. Good luck.
  • why cant trailers with back windows use those sites?Just put utilaties in a place to use both directions
