I'm not sure what part of the southwest you've been to that is hotter in June than July. But in Yuma, Quartzsite, Parker, and all towns along the river the average temp is higher in July and August. If you stop in Quartzsite in June, you'll most likely be by yourself. Go on up to Parker or Lake Havasu and camp along the river. That you will enjoy.
