Try Raleigh Four Oaks off of hwy 701. It is just a short drive to I-40 and a total of about40 mins or so to Raleigh. My wife has to go to mtgs at NCSU occasionally and that is where we stay. There are some sites at Dorton Arena on the state fairgrounds which are closer but there is always something going on there. You may luck out to check that too. DO NOT get Raleigh Four Oaks mixed up with Four Oaks resort.
Greensboro has a few cgs as well with one being the KOA. I have never stayed in that area since it is only 3 hours for me to get there. If I was going to stay it would probably be that KOA.
