Out here, I have found a nice group of campgrounds that don't have all that noise. I go to lakes that are popular with fishermen not skiers. I go to campgounds that don't have a boat ramp or playground. And I stay away from lakes near big urban areas during high season.
I do find the occasional camper with the loud generator running as long as they can get away with it, and once in a while there's a group that's a bit rowdy. But overall, folks are considerate and quiet down at night. During the day, I ignore the noises of people out having fun - just like they ignore my noises.
