Unless it's an old contractor generator, they are all pretty quiet. I could see if you are sweating on a 90F night and the soft hum reminds you that they guys next door are in cool comfort. That might get on your nerves.
If you don't like being around people, the burden is on you to find places people don't like to go. The nice place by the lake rarely qualifies.
