Thanks for the quick replies. Although I like TCs the climb in is more than the DW desires. The ol' Runny Duck is only 24' so we too go toadless. I've got an 2006 Grand Cherokee w/ tow package that is low miles and great shape for a tow vehicle if I go that route. If I bought a trailer it would have to be nice enough for the wife and still rugged enough for at least mild off road use. Sorta leaning away from a PUP although we've used one before. IMHO not practical for roadside overnights.
