I heard on the local news a week or so ago about some fungus or mold or some such that is causing some of the leaves to not change but brown and fall off. Seems that is what has happened to the aspens here at the house. Go a few hundred yards away and they are in full splendor. - RedRocket204ExplorerStayed in Taylor Park the last 5 days and did Taylor Pass over to Aspen. Could only see the highest peaks of the Bells so couldn't get a sense of what the valley looked like there. But up on Apex, the aspen leaves are in full swing but also depends on the altitude however, camped at 9400' in TP, Sunday morning low was 19. I have many, many pictures of aspens turning but haven't got through them yet. In and around TP was a sight to see!
On the way home through Park County, Kenosha Pass was amazing yesterday. - BusskipperExplorer

Drove through there on Sunday on a loop that also included Independence Pass. Red Cliff to Leadville was the highlight of the trip. Some good color around Twin Lakes, but on up Independence Pass and dropping into Aspen was disappointing. The Aspen are on their own time zone - Looking a the Ski cam in Aspen looks like the Bells would have been perfect this weekend for Photo's.
Ken - does you phone have a Camera? With all your drives it would really be nice if you shared a few Images - you know what they say "a Picture is worth a .............." Even when you always say it so clearly, I would love to see some from your Minds Eye.
Rt 24 is just a Beautiful Drive and Minturn to Red Cliff to Leadville has some really special Looks, Maybe this weekend for Independence Pass, there was still a strong influence of Green in the trees, but they sure were Special.
Wish I were there for more than just the tree's. - 4runnerguyExplorerDrove through there on Sunday on a loop that also included Independence Pass. - AJBertExplorerI drove out to Cripple Creek yesterday and the fall colors are pretty much in their full splendor right now. Still just a few green aspens but not many.
