- stormysmomExplorerMy DH thinks Florida is THE PLACE to live!! I do not have Medicare yet, so my health insurance quotes have been wwwaaayyyy more expensive than Virginia. But I WAS surprised that my MH insurance was more expensive here in Virginia than Florida.
- Bears_DenExplorerWhen the market took a dump and people lost their jobs, Florida had to make money some how. One way they did was to raise the vehicle registration rates for first time registrations. Also the cost of vehicle insurance is high based upon the location of where you live, older drivers and the amount of auto thefts. That's just the way it is, I've lived in Florida for 31 years and if it were not for my DW, I'd find a cheaper place to live.
- stormysmomExplorerWe used MYRVMAIL for a time..but I really just don't need it. I can use the RV park if I truly need a mailing address for Florida. We've owned the RV since 2011, no financing..sales tax paid awhile ago. My state and county has a personal property tax..that is outrageously expensive. So anything like a motorhome, I get hammered for in taxes.
- J_R2ExplorerTry Fastforwardremail.com for address.

I was sooo surprised to find out that my RV insurance in the hills of Virginia was ACTUALLY MORE than my RV insurance was in Florida. Same insurance company too. Go figure.
X2 for the hills of GA being more and Fla has no deduct on windshield replacement. Need to have owned the RV more than six months or you will be charged sales tax. - stormysmomExplorerThanks Tom. And everyone. Thank you.
- stormysmomExplorerThanks Tom.
- tatestExplorer IIMy brother registered and insured the vehicles he kept in Florida, in Florida, and those he kept in Michigan, in Michigan, while maintaining domicile in Michigan. But he also had physical addresses in each place.
he was resident in both states, domiciled in one. Legally they are different statuses, which you might learn should you choose to reside part of the year in a state that decides six weeks or six months makes you a resident. - stormysmomExplorerI was sooo surprised to find out that my RV insurance in the hills of Virginia was ACTUALLY MORE than my RV insurance was in Florida. - C-BearsExplorerWe only spend 5 to 5.5 months in Florida, 3 month or so in our home state (Illinois), and the rest traveling. We don't own property in any state.
That being said, one consideration for registering RV's in Florida is your insurance rates. I would suspect it would be much higher.
