Report from Distant Drums - Camp Verde, AZ
A couple of weeks ago we got a 30% coupon emailed to us by Distant Drums. Great, we usually stop here on the way south. When we arrived yesterday, we immediately noticed that the place was less than 25% occupied. Usually it is 75% full this time of year with Canadian flags flying everywhere.
I asked a work camper why the park was so empty. He said that the Canadian groups were froze in a month early this year and couldn't make it down. As I remember, a lot of them were wheat farmers.
The park is owned by the Yavapai-Apache Nation and is very clean and nice. I complained in RVparkreviews.com as have others about how out of level some of the pads were. Many units were front wheels off the ground. Many fivers had lots of lumber under their wheels. Well, guess what? They have redone or are currently redoing the worst of the pads. Our favorite spot was almost is now almost dead level.
They still only allow you to access their wifi with one device and place bandwidth restrictions on users. Signal strength is adequate. ATT service is still spotty.
We also received $20 in gambling coupons at the casino. Since our limit is $5, we'll probably go if we can stand the smoke. Grrrrrr.
