Got the passports and have crossed into various border towns over the past 30 years, but not recently.
If you wish to visit a border town Nuevo Progreso Mexico is the place to go in this area. Just south of Weslaco Texas. We have made about 8 trips there this winter. Great dining, drinking & shopping. Park for $2.00 just before the bridge & walk across the river. Just a couple of blocks.
