Back on 11/13/14 I
posted this: Dutch & Ski6P you will like www.weatherbell.com as his long range forecasts have been real close to actual. Unfortunately he is calling for this winter to be muck the same as last... just colder... even down into south Fla. Looks like CA will be the place to be.
I like people that go way out on a limb and Joe Bastardi of WXBell (above) is more a WX historian than a meteorologist to do his long range forecasts. More than three months ago he said the WX patterns this year are close to those in 1958 and 1969 where the NE got hammered with repeated very cold snow storms. He also is saying this winter will be longer than most with only S AZ and CA with warmer than normal temps.
This morning was the coldest day this winter with 46 in SE Fla plus three other days this winter where the lows were in the high 40's.
As a Fla native I'd say this winter is more like those in the 70's... a little cooler than the last 10 I've spent in WPB as a snowbird with the exception of four winters ago where we had 5 out of 7 days of cold WX and than another week of the same. Rarely does SE Fla have more than three constrictive days of close to freezing mornings in a month. The good news is while the NE is looking at record low temps for the next 10 days, TX and FL are forecasting pretty nice WX for the rest of this month. S Fla is foretasted to have one day of 46 and two where the lows will be in the 50's. Got to love it where even in N GA the lows will be in the teens with some snow.
One thing I've noticed is that S Fla tends to have a 17-18 degree difference in the high/low temps in the winter while Mission TX tends to have a 22-23 degree difference.
I know those of you in the NE feel sorry for us snowbirds.
