--Dawn for Dishes and for showers. Only after I verified that showering with liquid soap didn't require more water to rinse than bar soap.
--Plastic tub in the kitchen sink. This catches waste water from kitchen use and from hand washing. After I wipe my dishes (per Prof) I soak them there and after a few days finally wash them. I believe that "energy conservation" applies to my personal get-up-and-go, also.
--Paper towels. Each small strip of paper towel (I buy the 3-in-1 towels and then rip each strip in half) has a two-part life cycle. First they are used as napkins for eating. Then, the really messy ones get used to wipe down the dirty dishes (before soaking), while the cleaner ones get used to wipe down the counter, and then used on the dishes.
When resupllying at a local grocery store for longer boondocking, I verify that the store manager will let me dump the packaging for the stuff I'm buying into his dumpster. Then I'll spend the next hour pulling frozen pizzas out of their boxes, pouring wine from bottles into Nalgene collapsible carriers (there can be a lot of wine), dumping condiments from their jars into tupperware tubs, etc etc etc. And yes, my personal trash will end up in the store dumpster also.
