Phil, I can tell you for sure that when we bought our first trailer, boondocking was not even on the radar -- I had never heard of it, and it would have sounded like too much trouble for a newbie. We just wanted a motel room on wheels, preferably in a nice RV park with hookups.
But after we discovered boondocking (courtesy of this very forum!!), and after we tried it a few times, we were hooked -- my second trailer was definitely configured for self-contained stays in remote locations.
So when people say "buy your second RV first," the problem is that some folks (like me) don't know what they really need until some expensive mistakes have been made.
