I have a 34' Avion triple axle trailer and an old 69 Avion C-11 camper. My wife wanted to go out boondocking, but we couldn't get the large trailer back to the places that we really wanted to go. She gave me a choice, buy her an Airstream Bambi that was a few years old or fix up my 69 Avion camper. I decided to put the camper on a trailer and set it up for boondocking because a Bambi only held just over 20 gallons of water and about 450# after it was wet.
With 80 gallons of water (expandable to 110), 100# of LP, 20 gallons of gasoline, and a 1,500# payload after it is fully wet, our trailer is set up the way we want it. We can put an extra Quad on it, and it has solar, generator, outside shower and an ouside water heater that runs off of our water tanks under the trailer. It has about 15" of ground clearance and a relatively short overhang. Those aren't bad stats for a trailer that is only about 19.5' long.
I don't take it out to abuse it, but we do take it quite a ways off road. When the road gets too bad it is time to unload the quads and keep on going.
