Interesting thread and great information. We now have solar (230W) and find that this winter we will be using our electric blanket. We put it under our flannel sheets and it runs less and keeps us much warmer as heat rises. We also do this at home.
We installed a gas line with a shut off for our Heater Buddy which has turned into the perfect winter heater. I will be removing that noisy piece of junk they call a Suburban heater and using the space for storage or even better a kitty box location with a fan that draws the odors to the outside. Some day, I would like a Cat heater or an Olympic, but the Buddy works great.
Water, we conserve as much as possible. We have 40 gallons and bring along two 5 gallon jugs. Saving "cold" water when waiting for hot goes back into the tank for reuse.
I like table lamps and we have LED bulbs in those. Our laptops serve us for movies, book reading, etc.
We also have a Honda 2000 but it doesn't run our a/c which I'd like to throw off of a cliff because of the noise (obviously I like quiet). I may replace our microwave with a small 6000 btu window unit vented to the outside and we can then use our Honda with that at night when it is super hot.
As for black water, as long as we're not near a water source and we are full, I have no issue dumping small quantities to keep us from picking up and looking for a dump station. I have to say, we have only had to dump black once in 13 years. We number one outside which saves a lot. They say if you mix urine with water to dilute it, it is actually quite good for plant life. A book "Liquid Gold" was written about it.
I don't like using disposable stuff like plates and plastics and find I'd rather ration water and wash dishes.
We carry Castile soap for when we can bath in a lake or stream.
