Even the Honda inverter generators are not quiet at all whenever they rev up when loading them any amount more than just their idling output capability.
FWIW:
We have a small, but rare, Honda for use with battery charging and powering of small appliances that does not rev up. It runs at one speed and it's noise level is only 1 dB louder than the sound level from idling inverter Hondas. It's noise is also a different kind of sound - less irritating than an idling inverter Honda genny.
Our camping friends have one just like ours and other campers have come up to them (they run theirs more than we do) different times and asked what kind of generator it is because they couldn't believe how quiet it is - even though it's the classic Honda red color. We use them during boondocking a lot, as they only consume about one-half gallon of fuel every five hours and for all practical purposes ... you can't hear em'.
