You'd think there'd be a sign out on the highway saying "This way", but I've googled up and down the road and saw nothing. I think maybe this BLM "campground" is simply a "pull off the road and get stuck in the sand" then wait for a tow truck. But then there are posts about all the cool stuff to do around there.
Coming into the conversation late but - my thought would be to spend the night in Canyon de Chelly, and ask. You are only 65 miles from the NM so it would not be that hard and it is one of my favorite spots in this area.
Or you could continue down the Road west on 160 to Dennehotso a small settlement just off the creek and ask for info there.
All of this area is amazing to see - but remember you are not on BLM land but on Navajo lands, so the proper thing to do is ask and likey (contribute something to the CG).
Having driven through this area many times to get to Canyon de Chelly
I can say there are just so many places you might like to explore but just like the rest of the US, someone probably calls this HIS, or HERS, so take the time to ask.
