Do you also tell the end of a movie to someone who wants to see it? Come on, lighten up. The OP asked about campgrounds. - Opie431ExplorerIf you have children they might enjoy bending over and putting their feet in two states and their hands in two others. If you are an adult it is not worth going out of your way to see.
Takes about four minutes to see everything. - RollnhomeExplorerUnlike everyone else we have been there a couple of times with different friends. It is not Arches NP or Canyon de Chelly (which I would recommend if you have time), but it is interesting and we had fun. Remember it is not always the destination but the journey. Have fun.
- DougEExplorerI like to stay at Mesa Verde while I'm in the area. I just like the parks better. Don't let folks put you off on 4 corners. Some love it, some don't. Try it once for yourself and then decided. Some love to stop for some fry bread and trinket shopping.
- Roy_LynneExplorerThere are two places that really disappointed me and one of them was 4 Corners ( I read recently that it's not even in the correct spot). (The second place was the Painted Desert)

McPhee Reservoir in Cortez is a pleasant place to stay.

This is where we stay in the area, unless we're specifically going to Mesa Verde and then we'll camp up there. There are a few FHU sites at McPhee, rather unusual for NFS CG's in CO. - mosseaterExplorer IIWe found the monument cool and quirky, but don't plan to spend a lot of time there. Just not that big of a deal, IMHO. Cool to get some photos and move on. Remember to park up-wind of the porta-potty farm. Yikes!
- BigdogExplorerDon't listen to the folks that say it isn't worth it 'cuz your likes may be different than theirs.
Personally I would base in Farmington and do day trips to Chaco, four corners,Ship Rock, etc. - RamblinManGAExplorerHi from AZ. . . however, Monument Valley is worth seeing. We stayed at Gouldings, and drove the road thru the valley.(4wd is best). Having seen every John Ford movie made, I enjoyed it, & so did the teenagers., Regards, Craig
