RV Parks near Hearst Castle

We are planning a trip to San Simeon in late May/early June with a 38' motorhome. It appears that the state parks have a max. length of 35', and photos of other parks indicate that their spaces may be somewhat small also. Does anyone have suggestions for other sites nearby that would accommodate us?
Thank you.

  • I have reservation for 5/18 - 5/21 in the Washburn Campground not sure of the # but may be #223
  • If you haven't been before, I suggest you go relatively early and take at least two of the tours.

We have camped at San Simeon dozens of times. We prefer to go up on top to the Washburn Campground. It is quieter and and the view is better. Follow the sign at the bottom of the hill from the entrance station to Sites 201-268. If there is a tsunami, your chances are much better up there. Be sure if you are going to be there for a bit, check out Moonstone Beach, Cambria and grab a bite at Sebastians on San Simeon Rd. Locals know where it is. North of San Simeon toward Piedra Blanca Light Station is the Elephant Seal beach.
  • The sites are OK for a 38'! I was there at San Simeon State Park with a 37' Motor home 6-7 years ago. The sites in the lower section was where we were but the ones when you first pull in on the first hillside were bigger. I think the sites on the backside of the campground would work too.
  • Morro Strand State Beach has a 40 foot MH limit.
