RVParkReviews.com???

Okay...wanted to see if others have had a similar experience with RVParkReviews.com when trying to post a negative review of a park...maybe my situation is unique?

Anyway...I tried to post a review about a park that did not honor my incoming reservation because they chose to allow existing campers to extend theirs and thus not having room for me (a first BTW after many many CG reservations and visits).

I tried to review the park and state my issue and what happened so others would/could be prepared that a reservation really doesn't mean a reservation in my experience and this place should really operate as a first come/first served place.

My initial response from admin over there was to remove the owners name from my review and focus on the situation in not so much detail...so I modified my review and resubmitted.

Then I get a response from the RVParkReviews.com admin and it stated they are looking for things about the park, like utilities placement, pad levelness (is that a word?...LOL), pad condition, restroom cleanliness, laundry facilities, etc.

I tried to explain to the admin that if he read my review he would understand that I was never given the chance to actually stay at the park to know about all those things since the CG chose not to honor the reservation I had and had me scrambling looking for another CG at almost 6pm in the evening! I further went on to ask if they only wanted good type reviews or real world camper experiences with every facet of the campground experience from those of us that have had to deal with the CG and their staff. I have never heard back.

So my question is...is it common that RVParkReviews.com is essentially censoring or not allowing/posting all threads that are submitted from campers that have had experiences with CG's?

If my experience with submitting that review is not uncommon...how many other reviews have been posted over there that are similar in nature describing the reservation experience that we never get to hear?...

I realize forum sites need to "review" posts before they are posted (like trip advisor, etc)...but...I know that if I was looking to stay at a CG...I would want to know about every facet of the CG and how they treat their campers...not just how clean the bathrooms are...so I was somewhat surprised 1) by the lack of last response by admin over there and 2) the stuff he/she said they wanted in their posts about a CG...kind of worried me that perhaps using that as a source for CG info may not be as reliable as I had thought...and I use it all the time when looking at a new area...

Thoughts?

We use multiple sources for Campground Reviews. Many times, we can't find the city we want to stop in on the RVParkreviews site anyhow.

And just what alternative to do suggest? Rvparkreviews.com apparently has taken the position that they want to primarily review the park, not the park employees or the park policies. Something akin to wanting a restaurant review to be about the food, not the attitude of the valet parker.

I have posted many reviews with them and only had 1 rejected. I posted about a local cg in Adairsville Ga. right after the last tornado went through. I posted about the condition of the place and it was still open with just part of it closed off. Lots of folks on here use it as a stop over heading North or South. reviews told me this was not the kind of info they wanted. They wanted to know conditions of a park!
I thought that was what I did.

Every review I have ever submitted, positive or negative, has been posted, including a strongly negative review in the past 3 months. Hope your experience will not become the norm. I have read numerous reviews, posted since September, that state "Don't ever stay here" or "avoid at all costs". No idea why yours was voided. I've always found this site to be helpful when traveling to a new area. Hope it can continue to show valid reviews, good and bad, so those of us not "in the know" at least have some idea of what to expect. Certainly can NEVER trust the individual campgrounds' websites!

Never had a problem myself. I think trying to get super detailed and making it personal is going to raise red flags for the Editor.

Well...I'm glad to see there's a good sampling of folks that have posted reviews and had them posted unedited or altered.

I'm still concerned though with the number of folks that have had similar experiences with RVParksReviews...it seems like there are enough questions that I will likley not use that site much if at all due to the practices of posting what they feel is "worthy" of publication.

Again...I understand that we're dealing with an open internet site...but who is to say the "glowing" review wasn't written by the park owner under an assumed name?...I'm sure that happens a lot...so to counter that...RVParkReviews needs to post ALL reviews so WE can weed through the stuff and form our OWN opinions versus THEM forming our opinions for us by censoring what reviews are posted and which aren't...that's the point...

If this is the type of site they want to have, more power to them It is their site, their rules, just like your parks. It does not mean that I have to agree or believe what is there without question. I do not and will no longer contribute to it. That is my right. There are more people that feel this way everyday.

If the attitude of the valet somehow changes my experience of the restaurant, both good or bad, it should be in their review. Just as if the ambiance was bad or the place was dirty.

I do not wish to be condemned or accused of favoritism, but there is a new review site(which will remain nameless) just starting up that addresses this problem.

I was told once that I cannot submit a negative review concerning our run in with the park owner and how he treated us and his employees. The review was "TOO PERSONAL" in nature for the site. They wanted a generic review on how we liked the park.

I have used and posted to RVPR and found it useful. It appears that it is less accurate than first represented.

Maybe Westernrvparkowner is right that RVPR wants to know more about the physical plant, if so, its much less useful.

People do make the difference and I want to know what they are like especially if outside of the good and the ordinary. It makes a difference when I visit a restaurant I want to know about the people, service is extremely important in the hospitality business.

I am some what surprised to find that it is run by RV park owners. I will keep that in mind.
