Sacramento Area or north

Hello, we leave on 6/12 for our three weeks in Oregon (which we've done did about 6 years). This year our first reservation is at Valley of the Rogud and we were going to drive from our home (in Carmel) there in one day it we found out we can leave early afternoon the day before. Can anyone recommend a place around the Sacramsnf area (or north 5) area? We have a hybrid and it would just be a overnight, don't really care about anything other then sleeping safely with hookups.
  • Try Placer County Fair grounds. They have sites available. Also being that your headed North, Sycamore Ranch off Hwy 20 out of Marysville has a really nice quiet campground. Check out Lake Minden a thousand trails campground just out of Sacramento.

Free RV parking at Thunder Valley Casino Parking lot #2.

Nice level sites, full hookups, shuttle to the casino. Or you can stay in the huge parking lot for free.

The other one in Dunnigan, Happy time, east edge of the freeway, by Pilot, is much nicer than the west side one. It is still a cheap and older place, but safe. I recommend. And the showers are free :).

Our son lives in Sac and we've stayed there. Somewhat marginal but close to I5. KOA is W Sac might be a option.

There are CGs both north and south of Sac. Perhaps choose based on when you'll transition Stockton/Sac traffic.
  • There is a nice USFS campground just off I-5 at Red Bluff. But you should check Recreation.Gov to see if all the sites with electricity are booked for your date.
  • Just my opinion but Sac has no places to recommend. Don't know how far out you want to be but Auburn has Gold Country RV Park. NICE.
Vacaville has two older parks, Vineyard and Midway. They are fair places. Then there is Dunnigan, roughly 20 miles north on I-5. Only one we have stayed at is the older one on the west side of the freeway behind the rest area. Sorry but cannot remember the name. It was ok 10 or so years ago. The other two are fairly new and right on the freeway and I don't think there is any shade. Hopefully others will chime in with a bit more info...
