In SD we stay at Chula Vista if going to Seaworld, beach, zoo etc. Have tried Mission Bay RV and Campland. The latter is HORRIBLE. Some like it but no way would I stay there! Mission Bay RV has tight spots but ok. Chula Vista is far nicer. I've heard KOA is decent. San Diego RV is a bit dirty, very tight spots including having to ask the office to open/close a gate to/from the street in order to get into or out of some spots.
We love the wine country and often opt to stay to the north in Temecula at Pechanga. Really nice RV resort. Close to the wineries as well as the Safari Park near Escondido.
