In 2006 (was it THAT long ago?) we spent a week at the Tradewinds RV Park in Vallejo CA and toured San Francisco from there. The cross-bay ferry service was fast and inexpensive and close to the park, and the street cars and city buses were easy enough to use. Sure beat fighting traffic. We've since driven past the "San Francisco RV Resort" and were glad we'd chosen not to stay there. But the view is good, at least when the cliff isn't crumbling. :)
