SC/GA Coast at the end of August?

Having lived along the Gulf coast most of my life I am accustomed to the threat of hurricanes and the hot humid weather of August.

How many of you would gamble and book stays at Charleston and Jekyll Island towards the end of August given the chance for tropical development?
  • As you know, hurricanes can happen just about nay time. While August may historically be a hot time for it, I wouldn't let it deter me making plans to go. If you are there or about to go and don't feel safe, then don't go or go home.
  • If I wanted to go there, I wouldn't worry about storms that might never come.
There are many RV parks that will give refunds if you give them advance notice of cancelling.

The SC state parks are booked by Reserve America, and if you book with them and cancel all you lose about $18.

I say book now and don't worry about it

I guess it really doesnt matter where you want to go. there is always something bad that can happen to you at any given time...

Its alot like the story at one campground of us being chased down the big hill by a bear. I was ahead of the wife by a few steps and we finally made it to a safe zone at the bottom of the hill. The wife commented why wasn't you running faster like I know you can. Of coure my comment back was I only needed to run just a tad faster than you.

If we had to worry about all the bad things that can happen to you then we probably would not ever go anywhere...
