- UnyalliExplorerYep saw that, I'm watching the race right now and see plenty of RV's with good view of the track. Was wondering if anyone here has been and could recommend an area and maybe some key words to use when attempting to get a reservation/ticket for next year. Any other "inside" info?
- motorhomiExplorerWe been a few times. Son-in-law is the crew cheif on the #3 Corvette. It can get kind of crazy in the in field. Just don't camp in Turn 10, that is total mayhem.

Crazy as in what? I'm not going to go to a race to boondock in the peace and quiet. I'll probably out last most of them and be up early torturing the youngsters with smells of bacon cooking. If the lady's want to "lift it" and share the nummies I appreciate fine art. :B
-Jeff - Jim_ShoeExplorerI've been there for the race, but it was Spring Break in 1967, so I doubt anything is the same. Back then, the only cost was if you wanted to sit in the grandstands. Three of us guys just drove in and parked along the front stretch, next to the fence in a car. We sat on the hood and watched for awhile, then headed back to the beach in St. Pete.
FWIW, you'll be 300 ft. ASL, so if you get nose bleeds at altitude, bring some tissues. :) - BoldtningExplorerMy favorite area when I used to go to the race was to camp around the "HAIRPIN" curve. The spaces were usually filled by Tuesday or Wednesday before race Saturday. The cars must gear down to make the turn then accelerate rapidly. A lot of jockeying for positions coming in and exiting the curve, i.e. lots of wrecks.
- UnyalliExplorerLooking at the map I was curious about that hairpin area.
- Dixon_MarkExplorerI went there about 18-20 years ago I had to make time just to go to the fence and watch a couple of cars go around. The end field was one large party night and day. The last day people would burn down there stands that they built to watch the race on. It was a great party. I am sure they must have cracked down on this behavior by now.
- Dutch_12078Explorer IIWe came through Sebring today on our way to Clermont. Wow! There sure were a lot of people still trying to "get outta Dodge"...
