Seneca, SC - Oconee Point COE or High Falls County Park?

We are headed to th e Seneca, SC area this weekend and are looking for recommendations for a campground. The two that look the best in RV Park Reviews are Oconee Point Core of Engineers Campground and High Falls County Park.

We like campgrounds that have space between sites and are natural.

Any information on the campgrounds and specific sites for our 30' toy hauler would be appreciated!

  • This is the OP. We went to High Falls County Park to check it out first. Small gravel sites, most not level.

We high tailed it over to Oconee Point (about 25 mins away) and are happily camping on a pull through lake front site.

    Thanks to all who responded!
  • Also if you want FHU, Crooked Creek in West Union is nice, just not much shade. You're only about 10 miles or so out of Seneca on Lake Keowee

Oconee Point. Great park, one of our favorites.

I agree with Travlingman. Hard to beat Oconee Point.
  • From someone (not me) who used to live there several years ago, when I read her this thread...

South Cove is much more crowded than High Falls because it is closer to Seneca. They preferred High Falls as it has less problems (boozers and idiots).
As for the COE... both Oconee Point and Coneross are nice. They only stayed at Coneross but say the playground in Oconee Point is nicer. They tended to like to stay above the power plant due to the PCB's that Duke dumped into the lake "accidently"

They also like ChauRam (north of Westminster) which was a state park when they lived in the area but is now a county park.
  • For close in to Seneca try South Cove campground. COE campground are down on Lake Hartwell. Look At it on Google earth.
  • Don't know specifically about that COE CG. But in general I'd say they have the most room per site in their cg. But the setting is rarely what you might call 'natural'. CG that try hard to preserve the natural setting are often cramped and have narrow entry roads. You know they are trying to 'preserve' nature not bulldoze wider roads and campground slots. You can ask for one or the other.
