OP, sorry it took me so long to respond to your question about temps. It is usually in the mid to high 60s at the beach in June. The nights cool off to about 60. If you are right by the coast, you will not need air conditioning. A few miles inland, the temps go up a lot.
The water, by the way, will probably be in the mid-60s -- pleasant if you have a wetsuit, otherwise kind of rugged. The sun usually does not come out till around noon in June -- we call that "June gloom." But bring a lot of sunscreen -- even if it is cloudy, a lot of UV comes through.
The other factor is wind -- at around 11 am, the breeze comes up, holding at around 5 to 8 mph until the early evening. Not enough to shake your awning, but enough to feel cool when you are in the water. Also, the wind messes up the waves in the afternoon.
The waves, by the way, should be pretty mild in June -- usually about two feet. The biggest waves are in the winter and sometimes in August.
You will hear stories about sharks -- ignore them. The chance of even seeing a shark is very, very low. You might see dolphins playing in the surf, though -- very cool animals!
