Skidaway Island State Park and Savannah Pics

Got the chance to stay 3 days, at Skidaway Island State Park,Savannah area --- Lots to do --

Like most of Georgia's State parks, nice wooded, spaced out sites, the staff at Skidaway, does a jam up job on up keep of the park, we had full hookup site (sewer & cable) included!!!

  • Outstanding photos! Now you can see why Skidaway is on our list of faves. I recommend a stay of at least a week preferably two to relax and enjoy most of the sights. Our grands love camping there with us.
  • Great pics! Thanks for the report. We were set to go a couple of years ago, but had to cancel. Still on our list!
  • We like Skidaway also. Most if not all sites are large and are pull through. The RVs are parked parallel to the road making for large sites.

We were there on St. Patrick's day when all the city fountains have green dye in the water. The fountains were fun but some areas of town were a little rowdy with partyers.

    Is the pool open yet?
  • We were there weekend before last. With addition of sewers it is great. One drawback, the beauty of the trees makes satellite reception difficult. We walked around the park with a satellite app looking for openings in sky.
  • Markiemark,

Great photos! We have reservations for Thanksgiving and in-laws are staying in one of the new cabins they have. Cannot wait. Really hoping we have nice weather - it's 75 degrees here in Charlotte area today. Not bad for November!

    Thanks for sharing,
  • Loved the pictures. Just a question... Any problems with sand fleas? They really bothered my husband and itched for weeks after. I said maybe it was just him.

This time of year, with a little cooler weather, bugs are less, an issue.

This past weekend, a little rain, Friday evening, cool evening & night.

Saturday evening, out at campfire, wife mentioned some biting bugs (may of been mosquito or "no-See-ums"), I did not notice too many, as I stoked the fire. They were not that bad.

We did stay on the go, out & about, on this trip. Personally, think it is a great destination in winter and avoid heat of summer & high bug times.

  • Thanks for posting these pics. We always here about skidaway but never really see it. Lookalike Ike somewhere we will put on our list.
  • Very nice and thanks! My best friend from my Navy days lives in Savannah. Looks like this might be the place to stay. I'm pretty sure when his dad visits, he camps there.
