Snow-birding; Texas instead of Arizona?

Hey good folks,
We are going to be snowbirds for the first time this winter. We are from Washington State. I checked rates at snowbird parks in Arizona and I thought they we quite high. Then I checked Texas and WOW way cheaper. Any pro's or con's with Texas as a snowbird destination?

~Thanks, John

I have lived in both places and I have never seen the sky turn green in Arizona... Just like clockwork - The skies in Texas will turn green just about every three days time...

Turning green means you better keep a close eye on the skies... Its about to come a big blow...

I have stayed in Ariz. for the last 12 yrs. Came through Texas one time(and my last) and a hail storm on I-10 did $16,000 damage to my truck and trailer:(. If you choose Ariz. make your reservations now for next winter. I would draw a 20 mile circle around the center of Phoenix and pick an RV park out of that circle because of higher prices and terrible traffic on the freeways.
  • I thought the RGV was cooler and had more wind than Arizona. There are many places in Arizona and many different levels of cost. Probably like most any other place. I live in southern NM so don't really need to go anywhere to have much better weather but we have a son and family in Tucson so have spent lots of time in various places in Arizona. Like it much better. Also have a daughter in San Antonio and just like Arizona in the winter better than anyplace else.
