How many snow birds own their southern spots. Land in south Texas doesn't seem all that expensive. water and power to a lot? any one done this?

Reading between the lines, is your question about creating your own RV spot... not in a RV Park? In many places it's called Zoning and unless it's rural or zoned agricultural... 5+ acres it's not going to be allowed.*Yes I own a RV lot in a RV Park in Florida as it's hard to rent one for less than six months... the Canadians rent them all.

We own 3 RV lots. 2 in FL and 1 in SC. We stay on one and rent the other 2.

We own our own spot in Palm Springs. Bought it about 10 years ago. We don't spend all winter on it but we enjoy it A LOT when we are not on the road. We rented before we bought to make sure we liked the community. We bought in Outdoor Resorts Palm Springs.

FYI: A friend bought an RV lot in a gated, RV resort quite a few years ago and liked using it for a few winters but then, boy did he have trouble unloading it. He found that the value had dropped lot's since he purchased; yet he had to keep paying high fees annually. Occasionally he rented it but not nearly enough to pay expenses. Eventually he sold but at about half what he originally expected.
