We have been several times and like Poches Fish and Camp in Breaux Bridge.
They have newer cabin/park models that were nice.
From there you can tour the Tabasco Factory, Konriko factory (they have a nice historical video).
Also in New Iberia is Shadows on the Teche built in 1831. It is unique as the family lived in it until 1958 and much of the original furnishing and kitchen is intact.
If you read you might want to read some James Lee Burke novels set in New Iberia.

There is much to see and taste around there. We don't bother with New Orleans anymore.
