Any favorite camping areas near the Sawtooth National Recreation Area or the Craters of the Moon National Monument? We are on our way back to SoCal from Glacier NP and have a few days to kill.

Years ago I visited the "Craters of the Moon" area... and.. it was a heck of long drive for some pretty stark viewing. I may have been really tired, but I remember being somewhat disappointed.
I used to live near Kuna, ID. There's some pretty spectacular sights in this area along the Snake River. You might look into this - a double treat if you are into "birding".
